Navigation light inversion


This change may not seem to be a big deal but in terms of boat handling and sail care it provides reassurance and improved efficiency.

The way the bow navigation light used to sit on the pulpit gave the maximum height of light possible and added to Little Grace’s character. But when sailing downwind the foresail would sometimes snag on it and could be difficult to free from the cockpit.
 

A simple inversion solved the problem.

  1. How do you feed the e;ectric cables - inside the pulpit tubes and then through the deck, or....????

    1. Hi Steve, inside the pulpit tubes and through the deck and backing plate at the fixing aft starboard end.

  2. Too late to mention now, but you don't need those nav lights as you're under 7m length. When motoring you can use the all round white (anchor light) and when sailing a tricolour.

    1. Hi David, thanks for the heads up. I am aware of that but the lights were already in place (the bow light the other way up) when I got the boat. However, I like the setup because I can change the bulb etc. without having to bring the mast down.
